Trinity Anthony

- Lead Fellow

I'm Trinity and Iā€™m a senior at the Academy of Health Sciences High School in Maryland. I am happy to announce that it will officially be my first year as a Lead Fellow! A little bit about me: I lead as Maryland District Leader/President for an organization called Voters of Tomorrow. We work with students to engage them with and educate them about politics and government. I have also done work related to Women's Rights, Criminal justice, and Educational Justice. As a new Lead Civic Fellow, I'm so excited to lead inclusive discussions and give young people the platform to feel empowered in a safe space where their opinion matters. I see the two-way conversations it creates where students learn how local politics affects their lives and politicians learn how to represent the youth and their families in our country. I envision a country as a community that works beyond its limitations and changes old habits. When I'm not advocating for change, you can find me painting, playing the piano, or baking bread.

"Next Gen has contributed to my rise in self-confidence and extrovert qualities, as someone who started out knowing nothing about politics to become a state director in a student organization months later. I've now provided resources to advocate for various topics such as education among all children. Next Gen has shown me my capabilities and has put me in a position where I am always collaborating and leading. Participating in a cross-partisanship environment has allowed me to gain and accept new perspectives. The message of Next Gen is crucial to expanding our definition of democracy, where we can come together and create change. I'm so excited to work with NextGen and see what has to come."
