Cristina Toro

- Lead Fellow

My name is Cristina Toro and I am a senior at Spence. I initially joined Next Gen because of my passion for politics, and I have stayed in Next Gen for three years now because of my love of the program and its mission. Next Gen has helped me turn my passion into action. This past spring I worked on the city council campaign for Sara Lind, a candidate I fervently supported. In school, I lead a Civics Club for the middle schoolers in my school to facilitate discussions about current events. Beyond my passion for civics, I am also interested in science. In addition to my interest in civics, I am part of the Independent Science Research program where I am currently researching genetic and epigenetic origins of psychiatric disorders at Mount Sinai.  As a Senior Lead Fellow, I hope to share my passion for politics with other fellows, and help other fellows embrace their civic passions.
