Carley Goldstein

- Lead Fellow

My name is Carley and I am a senior at the Hewitt School. Last year, during the ensuing presidential election, I joined Next Generation Politics in order to assume a stance within the national and local partisan rhetoric taking place. While I felt socially educated at my school, my desire to actively participate in the political sphere had yet to be fulfilled. At such a pivotal moment in our nation’s history, and at a time where youth generated energy was needed most, I decided to commit myself to civic engagement through the fellowship I was offered. Next Generation has expanded my perspective significantly. Coming from a small, all-girls school, I desperately wanted the opportunity to immerse myself in a diverse environment, where my beliefs and opinions would be pushed to their utmost potential.

Through my involvement in last year’s Civic Forums, I was challenged in the way in which I was accustomed to both think and act on certain matters. Next Gen has equipped me with an appreciation for and dedication to serving my community through meaningfully tough conversation, and demonstrated youth activism that will one day wield the power to transform the future.
