Hi! I’m Jolina and I’m currently a junior drama major at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens, New York. I’ve been part of Next Gen since the beginning of my sophomore year, and a Lead Fellow since this past summer. I really enjoy having spaces that allow me to explore and share my passions alongside others. Our monthly/weekly meetings are something I genuinely look forward to, and being a Lead Fellow is an increasingly interesting experience. Being part of the Civic Fellowship at Next Gen Politics has greatly expanded my personal and professional network, exposed me to some amazing volunteer opportunities, and even gave me clarification on what I’d like to pursue as a career (spoiler alert: it’s civics based). Having now experienced the unique structures of the fall, spring, and summer forums, I couldn’t be more excited to do it all over again :)

Being part of Next Gen has instilled within me a sense of responsibility to myself and others to remain continuously educated and willing to grow. During my time so far as a Lead Fellow, I've learned that the most important thing you can do as a facilitator is listen and allow uncomfortable discourse to happen, because uncomfortability fosters evolution and, ultimately, understanding
